quote of the day.....

We live in the conversation we have about the world...And over that we have absolute, omnipotent power. We have the opportunity to shape that conversation, and in so doing, to shape history.

a very lo so long winded poem

THE STORY OF ONG AH TEE

I am Ong Ah Tee living in Kampong Chai Chee
Life used to be simple and HAPPY
I worked hard in my STUDIES
I learned A-B-C, and everything from 1, 2, and 3.
Primary school was quite easy I passed PSLE
Then I went to SECONDARY
The subjects include HISTORY, GEOGRAPHY
Physics, Biology and CHEMISTRY
After O levels I went to JC

They said you live in Singapore very LUCKY
This is a small humid tropical COUNTRY
Surrounded by unknown potential ENEMIES
Boys turned 18 must go to ARMY for the tour of duty
After that we may continue our Studies
The girls can just sit back, relax, and watch TV
They come to this world only to "lim kopi, kway jit chee"

No one lives on free meals or depends on CHARITY
I want to take up IT, but I had no money to go to University or Poly
So I went to work at FACTORY
Working hard to earn a little lousy SALARY
After CPF and INCOME TAX, I have just enough money to buy ROTI and ride in MRT.
My bosses show me no SYMPATHY
Mumbling over my shoulder daily: "HURRY, HURRY and HURRY!"
Accusing me of always trying to get MC
But my sickness was due to over stretch OT
Going home after midnight by TAXI
And they pay me only bus fee
My colleague likes me because of my honesty and can easily bully
They said I don't know how to carry.

I Park-Tor and became STEADY
Finally had to MARRY
Because gahment gave baby bonus MONEY
I! lost money holding Wedding Dinner PARTY
Cheeky friends donating only cheap PANTY
After marriage, nothing was EASY
In one year, I became DADDY
I can't support my family and our BABY
Being tied down for life to repay 2 rooms HDB
and rising monthly utilities to PUB
My bank account has NO MONEY
POSB balance is almost EMPTY
DBS wants to charge me EXTRA FEE
Insisting that "Nothing is FREE!"
So I moonlight as KARANG GUNI
Many times I want to jump MRT
But that is not EASY
My wife cries: "Who is going to support me and our BABY?"
So I can't MATI.

I went to seek assistance from the MP
His reply was simple and easy:
"Vote for me, vote for me, vote for me".
He never tells me any convincing Policy.
How to help the poor with more GST?
Why I cannot have pay increase but they can have increase?

Before, my MP said "Vote for me, we give you sweeties".
Now, they want to increase salary, because "You voted me".
They claim they made good economy for our country.
They benchmark themselves using GDP.
They said, "To get the best man, you have to pay high fee" otherwise, they will join MNC.
And all your 'char bor' become maids in other COUNTRY.

Next will be the GST.
My boss say "no" to increase in salary,
It's really make me worry.
Our Health Ministry said let GP set their consultation fee.
If the GP charges high fee, don't let them see.

No money, how can healthy
If fall sick, can only mati
In hospital, can afford Class C.
I don't mind all nurses are aunty,
But only one doctor to see
No money for operation, I Tan Si.

more about RENCI stuntpunkmonk - his personal aides (??)

This is the man charged with having obscene films MONK'S AIDE: Pang Leong Chuan used to work as an aide to Ren Ci's ex-cheif executive Ming Yi

from today straits times report. i believe this was one of his 'personal aide' being spotted shopping in taipei 101 and accompanying flying SIA business class.

July 18, 2008

THE name Pang Leong Chuan did not ring a bell for Ren Ci chairman Chua Thian Poh.
No, Pang was never hired at the charity, he told reporters yesterday.

But Dr Ong Seh Hong, Ren Ci's acting chief executive, set him right: Yes, Pang had been an employee, but only for 'a short while'.

Pang, 27, was the personal assistant to Buddhist monk Ming Yi, the charity's former chief executive.

He was charged along with Ming Yi and two others on Tuesday, although initially the charges against him seemed unlinked to Ren Ci.

Pang faces six charges of possessing 138 uncertified and obscene films.

Police seized most of the films from an apartment at The Cornwall, an upmarket condominium off Holland Road.

Pang and Ming Yi were believed to have stayed at the flat occasionally. Residents said they had seen the monk and two men returning there at night.

The rest of the films were found at Pang's Tampines address.

Another of Ming Yi's former personal assistants, Raymond Yeung, 33, is accused of helping the monk to give false information.

Ren Ci did not respond to questions about what the two men did in their job, or give other details about their employment with the charity.

Pang is believed to have become Ming Yi's assistant after finishing polytechnic and worked for more than a year. He is said to have travelled often. He is believed to have quit late last year to pursue a degree.

People who know his family said that he shared the Tampines flat with his widowed mother, and has a married sister living elsewhere.

Some acquaintances described him as 'friendly and outgoing' and the sort to help the elderly carry their groceries.

He has engaged a lawyer and will re-appear in court next week.

more revelation in the papers....

July 16, 2008
Charged: Man with obscene films in monk's condo

MONK'S CONDO HOME: Ming Yi sometimes stayed at The Cornwall. His former aide was caught there with obscene films. -- ST PHOTO: CHEW SENG KIM

A FOURTH man charged yesterday appeared to have nothing to do with the financial affairs of Ren Ci Hospital.

Pang Leong Chuan, 27, was charged with having 138 obscene and uncertified films.

He used to be the former personal assistant of monk Ming Yi, and was caught with most of the illegal films in an upscale apartment where the monk sometimes stayed.

Ming Yi is one of five listed owners of the apartment in The Cornwall, a condominium off Holland Road. Checks showed that the other owners included the Foo Hai Ch'an Monastery, where Ming Yi was the abbot.

Monastery staff were said to live in the fourth-floor unit, valued at about $2 million. Pang is believed to have lived there too.

Commercial Affairs Department officers confiscated 95 films at the apartment on Feb18, and another 43 from Pang's listed address in Tampines.

A resident said three men, including Ming Yi, lived there. Others said they had seen him returning at night in a car with two men.

Pang, a university student, was the monk's personal executive for more than a year.

No one was at his Tampines flat when The Straits Times checked yesterday. He is believed to have lived with his mother, though he was seldom home.

He faces six charges - four for possessing obscene films and two for having films uncertified for screening - and may be fined and jailed if found guilty.

He has engaged a lawyer.

when the digging starts, shits shall fly!

min yi was hit with 10 alleged charges of forgery as reported from the lastest news. below is an excerpt from a poster. read with discreet.

SINGAPORE: Head of Ren Ci Hospital, the Venerable Shi Ming Yi has been charged with alleged forgery, conspiracy and misuse of funds. Venerable Ming Yi, who was also former Ren Ci Chairman, was slapped with 10 charges Tuesday morning. The monk faces four charges under the Penal Code involving two counts of alleged criminal breach of trust.purpose of cheating and one count of abetment for allegedly falsifying accounts.
He also faces six charges under the Charities Act for allegedly providing false information.
Two of his associates Raymong Yeung and Phua Seow Hua were also alleged to have gone into conspiracy with the Venerable and were also charged in court Tuesday.
Separately, a volunteer from Ren Ci was charged with allegedly possessing some 70 copies of obscene film.
Venerable Ming Yi, also known as Goh Kah Heng, is out on S$200, 000 bail.
The case will be heard in court on August 4.
Venerable Ming Yi has been on leave for five months before his arrest on Monday night.
He had been under probe by the Commercial Affairs Department.
The Commercial Affairs Department was called in after auditors engaged by the Health Ministry highlighted possible irregularities in some of the charity's financial transactions.
The Ministry of Health had said that several transactions, which involved several million dollars, could not be satisfactorily explained.
Ren Ci and 11 other large Institutions of a Public Character were subject to the Health Ministry's general review in July 2006.
Ren Ci is believed to be the third largest health charity in Singapore after the National Kidney Foundation and SingHealth Endowment Fund.
The Commissioner of Charities has suspended Venerable Ming Yi from his office as Chief Executive Officer of Ren Ci Hospital & Medicare Centre with immediate effect.
He will also be suspended from his executive positions in five other charities: Foo Hai Ch'an Monastery, Foo Hai Ch'an Buddhist Cultural and Welfare Association, Singapore Buddhist Free Clinic and The Singapore Regional Centre of the World Fellowship of Buddhists, and the Katho Temple.
He remains the religious leader of the Foo Hai Ch'an Monastery.

the bigger the tree, the louder it falls....

July 15, 2008 STRAITS TIMES
Ren Ci case: Arrest comes after five-month probe
At issue are loans made by the hospital amounting to several million dollars

By Chong Chee Kin

THE long-time head of Ren Ci Hospital, the Venerable Ming Yi, was arrested yesterday and stepped down from all his positions at the charity.

He posted police bail of $200,000 last night and left the Commercial Affairs Department at the Police Cantonment Complex at about 11pm after giving his statement. He was wearing his monk robes.

His arrest means that both the former chiefs of Singapore's two biggest charities - Ren Ci and the National Kidney Foundation - have been implicated in financial irregularities in recent years.

The arrest of the face of Ren Ci comes five months after he went on long leave when the police were asked to probe the charity's finances.

The Health Ministry found 'possible irregularities' in Ren Ci's books after an audit.

At the heart of the issue were questionable loans made by the hospital, amounting to several million dollars. Some of these loans were allegedly given to companies with links to the Venerable Ming Yi.

There were also loans given to a helper with the charity as well as investments made over the years in his name.

As a result of the probe, Ren Ci lost the right to grant its supporters tax exemption for donations.

Contacted yesterday, the monk's lawyers, Senior Counsel Andre Yeap and Mr Hamidul Haq from law firm Rajah & Tann, told The Straits Times that their client has cooperated fully with the authorities.

The Straits Times understands that while Venerable Ming Yi has surrendered his passport to the police, he was told he would be allowed to travel, subject to conditions. His assets were not frozen.

It is understood that Venerable Ming Yi, who is also an abbot at a Geylang monastery as well as several temples in Malaysia and Hong Kong, was arrested for criminal breach of trust.

Mr Yeap said: 'His current intention is to seek vindication and it looks as though this can only be achieved by defending these charges in court vigorously.

'None of the offences related to matters which involved any allegations of personal gain...Some of the matters have already been approved by the board of Ren Ci previously.'

In light of his arrest, Venerable Ming Yi has informed Ren Ci's board that he will step down from all his positions - including his present post as honorary chief executive - 'pending the resolution of the current investigations'.

The 46-year-old shot to fame with his daredevil stunt of abseiling down the 45-storey Suntec Tower Two in the charity's maiden TV fund-raiser in 2003. The show raised more than $7 million in each of its last two runs.

He has been the chief of the charity, which takes care of chronically sick patients, since its inception in 1994.

Ren Ci is the second-largest charity under MOH with reserves of about $33.5 million. It raised about $30 million last year.

It runs two medical after-care facilities, one at Buangkok View and the other at Moulmein with over 444 beds. A third hospital, being built near Tan Tock Seng Hospital, is due to be completed in September.

REFORM PARTY INAUGURATION NITE

notice one fella's face was censored as he walked up the stairs? why like that?

and a exaggerated FR about this function. take it easy ;)

a comedy nite of fun @ RP dinner
From: 4stooges1 02:12

184382.1

paying like few hundred more for a cramped table of 10 at the RP dinner was well worth it!

although, the dishes served out was short-changed, the entertainment for the night was worth it! we tot it was gonna be 10 course but ended up serving 6 only. no sharksfin. no double-boiled soup. no roast piggy, duck, or abalone etc.

oops! we got abalone in spinach but not the one from the sea. instead it was one from rotting trees - abalone mushroom. inexpensive abalone mushroom thin slices and 10 exactly!!

whoever ordered the dishes for that night was indeed very enterprising!

edmund ng was a doll as the nite's mc. maybe x'mas party we should engage him as SANTA CLAUS.

the only lacking that night was chiobus. all we got was mostly marjojohn's laukuaybus club. incidentally, lamei was in this club too. sorry, no offence!

even the leeporter was the famous and quite notorious lkb. she was none the less, sylvia...wait lah! not lim but SYLVIA TOH PAIK CHOO. wow!! she's looking chio-er than ever!! ah choo, if u reading this, u should know who i m ;)

i was asking LTS who were this 2 jokers strolling hand in hand from one end to another..back..and forth. and oh! it was ramseth and lockeliberal! must congrat the newly wedded. they really looked like a couple - the groom and the groom. hahaha! sorry! joking again ;)

chinese as usual really thought this was indeed a wedding dinner. dinner was served at about 8pm, 15 minutes later after NG TECK SIONG's repetitive speech which he had already presented in one of chia's seminar in fragrant hotel. by the way, we were told to be punctual at 7pm.

soon it was JBJ's turn to give an auguration speech. by about 9pm, jbj was still speaking. wow piang!! no joke! as long winded as ever.

when he started to speak, everyone did pay attention to jbj. but as it dwindled on and on, i think most pay more attention to the miserly food served.

then it was the garland necking time. all the opp parties leaders were called on stage. each was necked with a garland. chee was the last to go up. loud applause resounded. it was for the whole group of opp leaders. please don't credit that to chee. chee's table by the way was nearest to the toilet.

flash lights clicked furiously....the teochew's style steamed live seabass dish which was served was mopped up in no time leaving only the skeletal frame. shit! some joker beaten me to the entire fish-head!

then drama time! a michael jackson look alike almost stole the limelight. it was seelan pillay with his trademark ponytail. he wanted to do a indian dance on stage. by then the dinner had ended with the last serving of tau sar pin.

most of the guests were rushing for the exit. they didn't wanna puke if his sari were to drop. gms n gang headed for some kopi and teh tarik at the nearby S11 kopitiam.

not long, they were approached by seelan pillay. not again!! he wanted to do an indian dance to everyone there. luckily, we commented how he resembled michael jackson and he should do a moonwalk instead. hack!! he only knew classical indian dance. that settled, we skipped his performance. luckily! or we would be puking teh n kopi at each other!! LOL!

why did seelan wanna perform for gohmengseng and his group? guys who were at the table, any answer?

mind boggling session starts now.

dr was extremely observant!

tic & toc makes a chanting woodstock

this is a very intereting story about vengefulness, unforgiveness and unresolved hatred.

once, there was a farmer who was walking back from his field. he heard a frantic croaking from behind a bush. he went to check and saw a big frog struggling madly. its leg was caught in the mouth of a snake.

using his pole he was carrying, he whacked the snake to death freeing the frog from its grip. happily, he was pleased with himself thinking that he had done a compassionate deed in saving the frog.

little did he realise, he had in fact sow a karmic bad retribulation of killing the snake which he was about to encounter again sooner than he thought.

on reaching home, he found 3 newly born puppies from the pet bitch he reared. 2 of which were black and one was beige. for some unexplained reason, the farmer loved the beige puppy very much. he pampered day and night and brought him everywhere he went.

one day, he brought the beige puppy which had grown to be quite a large dog to the temple to pray. the abbot there saw a snake-formed in the beige dog walking with the farmer towards the temple.

the old wise monk summoned the farmer over to him. he said to the farmer, "mind what handsome beige dog u got there! could u let me have it?"

"sorry, master," replied the farmer. "i love this pet dog very much. i got another 2 black ones at home. you can have either of them." he was about to leave fter praying. the abbot went up to him and told him this, "my friend, tomorrow at noon u mustn't take a nap in your bed." he warned. " u must take some straws and stuff thme into your clothings, cover it with your blanket and lay it on the bed. hide outside ur room and peer through ur window.....remember this for your life's in danger!"

the next day at noon, the farmer did what was instructed. suddenly, the room door spranged opened, the beige dog ran in, jumped onto the bed and gnashed at the the st straw man which the farmer made and put it there on his bed.

the farmer saw all this from outside the room window he was hiding. he was heartbroken and furious. he couldn't understand how could he love and pamper that beige dog so much and it turned to kill him. angrily, he took a long pole, rushed into his room and killed the dog with a single blow.

he ran to the temple to look for the old abbot. breathless and sad, he cried to the abbot, "why is my pet dog attacking me? i love it so much!!"

the abbot calmly explained to him, "remember that snake that u killed? it has reincarnated into that dog. it's a ill fated karma and it's back to take revenge on you...." the abbot shook his head. he continued, " when u work in the field tomorrow, do not respond to any sweet voice calling for you. you must turn and run away from the voice as fast as possible and do not turn back or your life would be in terrible danger! ornitofou...chui guo..chui guo..."

the next day, the farmer was hard at work in his rice field. soon, he heard a very sweet voice calling his name. he was so immersed in his work that he had almost forgotten about the wise abbot's warning. he thought to himself and visualised a pretty girl nearby calling him. instead of running away, he went to check where the voice came from.

he noticed wriggling of rice bush and a beautiful maiden's head popped out smiling at him. as he approached nearer, he was terribly shocked to see that the lower half body of the fair maiden was a long slithering snake form.

he realised the warning from the abbot and quickly turned to run. the snake maiden was hot on his trail. the farmer ran towards the direction of the temple. he yelled aloud for help. the abbot heard his call and saw him nearing the temple, beckoned him to stand below a below. he quickly released the rope lowering the bell to hide the farmer.

soon the snake also entered the temple and slithered straight to the bell hiding the farmer. it hit at the bell but could not budge it. exasperated, the snake maiden coiled tightly around the bell. when the abbot saw that he thought to himself, " what a negative karmic fate. the snake is seeking revenge on the farmer for killing it in the past life. maybe i leave it alone with the bell. when it's tired, it would just go away."

next morning, he went to check. he was astonished to see the snake maiden dead. relieved, he strung up the bell to check on the farmer hidding inside there. the abbot was saddened. the farmer was dead. he realised what the snake-maiden just did. it spewed all it's poison into the bell and coiling tightly around it to seal the fumes. this finally also exhausted its energy and it died. the farmer's body blacked from the toxic fume and died too.

after chanting some mantras and doing a rite for both the dead snake and the farmer, he buried them opposite a well in the temple's ground. the feud between the snake and the farmer was considered ended. that was what the abbot thought too.

a few months later, a sapling sprouted out from the farmer's tomb. at the same time another young tree also sprouted from the snake's tomb. both saplings continue to grow into 2 sturdy trees shading the well separating them.

one day, the abbot went to well to fetch some water. he noticed the one of the tree were sending its branches over to the other and trying to strangle it.

the abbot was dismayed at seeing this. "what an ill-fated karmic affinity both of you have! even in death, both of you still cannot get over the vengefulness and hatred."

he went back into his temple and brought out an axe and cut both the tree down. from the wood of one tree, he made a tic out of it and the other wood, he carved out a toc. henceforth, it became a tic and a toc of a woodstock which the abbot used for his daily chanting.

he hoped that by hitting on the tic n toc, the negative karma of the farmer and the snake would cancel each other out and finally resolved.

18 charged in court. this what chiatilik, the lawyer gotta say:

GST was instituted way back before the abrupt inflation took place due to increase in world oil prices.

something is very lacking in his speech. INFLATION IS AN INTERNATIONAL PHENOMENUM. pinning down on the gov for their incapability to contain inflation seems rather unfair and quite ludicrously shallow.

other countries around the regions, their citizens suffered due to their inefficient govs and rife corruptions.

over here, at least it is still quite well under controlled. just because the effect from the control which the gov is trying their best hasn't be felt instantaneously, it doesn't mean our gov is doing nothing.

i used to be very very biased against our gov. but because after mingling with all these people who are so highly educated, i was utterly disappointed at their shallow mentality and insightness of matters.

we love to complain. beside complain and complain...there are really more we can do instead. we can be more frugal, can't we?

all those people creating so much public nuisance were in fact wasting more resource of the gov, misleading the masses and u wonder what could that help to achieve? more would join them in the public protest? create more public upheavals and escalated into unrest so that it might wreck the sacred peace of the society?

imagine what would happen if all those were to happen? who suffer in the end? of course, they would say that it would be that serious. what if it really occur, are they going to be responsible about it?

if the people cannot withstand the policies or the gov itself, they would protest like in our neighbouring countries. the so called 'concerned protestors' do not have to instigate and flame peasants' emotion.

when it's coming from chee, it's more of a personal vendetta and hatred he has against the gov than really a genuine concern for the citizens cos it had occurred once too often before...and it was always over quite similar kind of grouses.

we have to be mindful and see our surrounding to validate our grouses againt the gov.

DO NOT LET THEIR HATRED CORRUPTS OUR OWN INTELLIGENCE.

please look at the matter deeper, remain calm and decide if it makes more sense to follow their calling.

A measure of a man is not dependent on his academic qualifications. nor educated, primary sch, ITE, private school, NUS, post grad? All these do not measure the value of a person nor equate anything to one's personhood. Personal attributes and graciousness are far more important.

We may hold differing views and may be disgusted by each others' methods, however, the many personal attacks, bringing in academic successes or failures, according to each own's definition? lanching attacks on one's family members, attacking on one's illness, black smearing with exaggerated graphic descriptions of sexual acts etc, seem to be crossing the line a bit too much here.

I am an individual observer who is very supportive of the opposition politics in SG. However, looking at the many aspiring politicians or activists involving and behaving in such manner surely makes one sit back and review and ponder. I still stand firm in supporting opposition politics in SG, will not be affected by what is happening here in this forum. However, it will be a pity that you may lose many potential mid ground singaporeans whom you have good chances of winning over who may be reading this forum now. They most probably will be rather put off by what is happening over here. From the postings and the information posted here, I am sure among the posters are really members from the WP and the recent TBT political activist. At first I thought maybe not, cos how to verify with just the nicks? But then, the information each used to flame each other, including revealing addresses, phone numbers, etc etc....these information do tally with what belongs to the WP politicians and the TBT activist, plus observing the writing styles too. I am sure there are many readers of this forum, now starting to make their own conclusion.

I can't comment on the past hurts and betrayals and I fully know I am in no position to do that. I know each has his liberty to take offence and I believe that many of you here must have been through a very rough patch and have gone through a very difficult time, losing friendships, losing trust, feeling sabotaged, etc... and it definitely is not easy to get over, forget and move on. it takes time to heal.

Just that to be using this forum as a platform to get back at each other, you openly post yourselves to public scrunity and the political mileage for opposition politics has surely been affected. Once one aspires to be a politican or even an activist, one has more or less become a public figure subjected to public assessment...thus the way one conducts himself is of essential importance. It is no doubt true that one must practise what he preaches, i.e. if one preaches about moral standards and integrity, one then must practise that himself. When one talks about needing to have the certain wisdom, knowledge and maturity to conduct himself as a politician, to debate as a politician, then one must strive to conduct himself as thus. Let's not dissappoint the so many supporters and voters out there.

Getting life's priorities right

Reader recounts how his patient led a happier life once he took stock of was truly important in life. -myp

my paper

A PATIENT once told me: "You know what, doctor, when I was told that I have cancer, suddenly all my shares, my properties and my brand-new car have no more meaning."

Yet, the attachment that some Singaporeans have to their cars never fails to amaze me.

When they notice scratches on their vehicles after shooing off a cat resting on them, for example, they would complain to their condominium management or the town council.

These motorists get so angry with the destruction of their "happiness" that they will not rest their case until the cats in the carparks are removed.

In the Housing & Development Board carpark where I park my car, there is a cat which would occasionally rest on car bonnets, including mine.

I have found its paw marks on my windscreen several times, but there are no scratches on my car, just a few small dents that are definitely not caused by a cat.

Whenever I see the cat resting on other cars, I would shoo it off and brush its hair off the vehicles so that the motorists would not complain about the cat's presence.

To me, what is important about a car is that it is functioning well enough to be safe on the road.

So what if it has scratches or dents? Cars are bound to get such marks.

The car does not feel the scratches. Rather, it is our attachment to the car that makes us feel the pain.

The patient who spoke to me became depressed after he was diagnosed with cancer, but his condition improved after he took stock of what was truly important in his life.

When he was near his life's end, I asked him if he was afraid. He said no.

He had done no harm to others, he said, and he remembered the good things that he had done. He also relished the happiness he had brought to others.

He died peacefully.

Dr Tan Chek Wee

many here do not appreciate what they are having now - the peace, the stablity and the quality of life in this country.

maybe it stemmed from personal failings, domestic unhappiness or working dissatisfaction.

unhappiness is a state of the mind derived from too much attachments.

happiness is also a state of the mind when it let go many and hence only detachment.

u read all the unhappy and angry people here, u cannot help feeling sad for each and everyone of them.

when it's time to let go, let go.

when it's time to awake, be awaken.

sadhu, sadhu....

I have only voted once in my life and that was during the last election because of the consistent walkovers for my GRC. However, with the re-zoning whereby my block is now part of a single counstituency, I had the opportunity to vote. Well, I must say that I voted for the opposition because I am well aware that with the GRC system and the lack of opposition candidates, the PAP will have already won the election. What surprised me was the fact that despite having so many heavy weights in my previous GRC, the team got the lowest number of votes.

To bring the discussion back into focus to this topic. If the party that is in my constituency is SDP or is CSJ, to be absolutely frank, I will void my vote rather than vote for the SDP. The main reason for my actions is because despite me not being convinced of the effectiveness of the alternative policies suggested by the oppositions, I am more comfortable with the other parties in adopting a moderate stance in providing some alternative voice rather than turning our parliament into a joke like the Taiwanese politicians.

Why China can move so fast in a relatively short period of time is because of the collectiveness of the political party. Singapore neither has the resources or time to engage in the type of fiasco acting that the Taiwanese politicians are engaged in. I am comfortable with the WP and other parties because so far they don't appear to be in the same league as the Taiwanese politicians.

What I am very uncomfortable with SDP and CSJ is how much of his actions are driven by personal hatred of the Lee family? Can I really let my baby girls grow up in a country where politicians are driven by personal hatred of one another? I forgot the name of the Taiwanese politician who offered to jump into the river but eventually did not. I maybe very wrong but somehow I have that same impression of CSJ. There are many ways to get your point across but to use the methods akin to the Taiwanese is something that I am not comfortable with.

Some may say that I am a coward. Well, if the definition of being a coward is wanting a safe environment for my kids to grow up where politics is about achieving results rather than an environment where urgent things are needed to be done but cannot be done because politicians are so busy acting in front of the TV, then please by all means call me a coward, a scum or a worthless piece of shit.

Although the current PAP policies may have resulted in significant hardship for alot of people, I really do not see other alternatives. I may not be an expert in economics or politics but if I put on my commonsense hat, I can see the rationale behind the actions. On the other hand, I am still against the payscale of politicians, the GRC system, the independence of the judiciary system and the elitism that the PAP scholars often show.

However, when it comes to CSJ, somehow I have lost respect for him since his open interview with George Yeo. One must realise their own strengths and weaknesses and be willing to tap on other's strengths. CSJ consistently failed to do that in his defenses in a court which resulted in him showing his weaknesses more. Of course, some may then say that it is because of a lack of courage in our legal fraternity where no one dares to defend him. If that is the case, then he must know that it maybe more worthwhile to protest in some other ways then direct confrontation. It may not bring about changes that rapidly but lets face it, there are some changes albiet very slowly. For one, I know for a fact that the ministries take public complaints and comments very seriously now and that is because of direct instructions from the top.

Well, that's it for me. Please feel free to curse and swear at me because I won't bother to respond.

Cheers

approaching nearer to the truth....

it's very surprising that some forummers extremely pissed took the effort to investigate on their own. more revelation...more exposures, still they are acting holy molly. what craps! what hypocrites who disguise themselves as rights fighter for the citizens.
11 JULY 2008. the whole bunch of 18 SDP/supporters would be charged in court. again, they reasoned that 'they were in the right and it was their rights and blah..blah..blah....'
just like their cult leader, mistake is not a word in their vocabulary they would ever acknowledge. read what she's trying to wriggle a reason...

It has come to my attention that there have been many personal attacks and threats on me and the F4...even Ejay has been threatened with harm.

To whoever that is doing that...On behalf of F4 and myself, I apologize and am sorry for making you feel so upset...

I would also like to assure everyone F4 members are not involved in any of the recent exchanges or attacks.

Ti Lik, E-Jay and myself dare to stand up against the establishment with conviction. Intimidation from the establishment doesn't work on us...so I hope you get the message as well...

Engage and reason with us if need be...

We knew that when we decide to come forward and stand up for our rights, more or less we are bound for some attacks.
We take it in our stride that this is part and parcel of activism.

If you are with us, and want to make SG a better place for everyone, stand alongside with us against the establishment.
The energy and resources wasted on us is not worth it...It could be better used against the establishment instead...

If you represent the establishment itself, get your master to fight us gentlemanly in the open and not hide behind some faceless nickname casting unwarranted and vile aspersions on us...

Last but not least...I would like to thank those responsible for the attacks and threats on us.
Thanks for showing interest in us, thanks for reading up on us. Hopefully one day you will find something that you read about us that you are finally in agreement with. We will definately work on that...

If you truly hate us, please leave us alone. One shouldn't waste too much time on someone you hate...take the time to love instead...

Food for thought:

"Love the person who does the evil deed while hating the deed that the person does"

"Defeat the unjust system, rather than the individuals who are caught in that system".

OM MANI PADME HOM....the universal mantra

chanting om mani padme hom, helps everything (?) not only in the human world but in different realms (??) again, emptiness is form, form is emptiness. if the faith is strong, it would be enough to overcome many obstacles.

this YOUTUBE about buddhist preaching is very interesting....

emptiness is form...form is emptiness

someone posted his view about the above phrase which was that i commonly used before in that zany sbf forum....i think i know who this joker is!!

OMPMH! May Peace be Upon Thee! OMPMH!

Do not abandon the boat while you are on the waters. Do not drag the boat along when you are on the land. OMPMH!

Buddha is there but not there. Buddha already in the state of Nirvana, how can He be there? He will be there when you ask for Him. He will not be there when He is already in Nirvana. He is Dharmma, just like a water in the sea of Dharma. Can you identify that little drop of water from the whole sea? But that drop of water will appear when it hits the sand of the beach. Will disappear when it withdrew into the sea.

That is, Form is emptiness, emptiness is Form. Emptiness will be Form, just like that drop of water coming to you when the sea reaches the beach. But it will no longer be there and become emptiness when it withdrew into the sea.

In the sea of Dharma, your state of mind is what you draw from the sea of Dharma, just like that drop of water coming out from that sea.

It is wrong to believe Buddha is there but not for anyone to call for His help or protection when needed. It is also wrong to believe there is no Buddha at all for anyone to call for protection. It is even wrong to expect protection from Buddha, the Dharma whenever you needed. Buddha is "non-existence" because He is already out of the realms of rebirth. But Buddha is neither empty nor a form. Buddha is Dharma sea.

When you call for Buddha's protection, you think its Buddha coming to your help but its you who are going to Buddha for help. You are going to the beach of the Dharma sea to get that little drop of Dharma water. When you think you are sending Buddha off, you are actually walking off from that beach and returning that drop of Dharma water into that sea.

What merits you share or transfer neither diminish nor increase, how could it have harm? Merits cannot be "robbed" nor "stolen", not like rich man giving money and getting robbed. Once a merit is robbed from somebody, it will no longer be merits but sin or a bad deed with demerits. Stop believing in rubbish.

OMPMH! May the Wisdom rise in Thou! OMPMH!

OMPMH! May Wisdom arises in Thou! OMPMH!

Wisdom is within and not to learnt. Buddha attained Wisdom not by learning but by inner state of mindfulness. Chanting is a state of mind and meditation. Only with a stable state of mind, frequency and vibration, then your wisdom will arise from within.

Gurus are for guidance in getting that state of mind but not for learning any Wisdom. Anything read, listen, see or hear, are not from within but from external. That is not WISDOM. Getting other tree's shade to shelter you is not having built your own shelter. Anything from your 5 senses will most likely to be defilements and not Wisdom. Wisdom cannot be spoken nor transferred. Wisdom only arises from yourself.

Meditation or even Chanting as a state of mind, will open up your wealth of Wisdom. So who says chanting cannot provide you Wisdom? Stop believing in rubbish!

OMPMH! May your Wisdom arises within Thou! OMPMH!
